Art Quilts

A day spent quilting is a good day. I stitched until I ran out of thread and then changed my plans to keep stitching more. I have a giant stack of background ready for their appliqué girl (or boy) and other fun details. She enjoys quilting (9” x 13”)

I’ve been designing some new art quilts for an upcoming art show and paused to snap some photos of the backgrounds before I began stitching. I had created the pieced “bolts of fabric” background using strips of an Alison Glass charm pack and a Grunge jelly roll. I added a neutral(ish) Alison Glass print as the wall, but it needed more. Fussy cutting a large scale Alison Glass print as if it were a round quilt on the wall was

She loves being in the water (8” x 6”) I utterly enjoy knowing that the edges I trim from a quilt can be put to a new use with a bit of zigzag stitching holding their abutted edges together. Adding a wet suit and flipper clad girl completes this watery fun piece.
