Randomly pieced back Sometimes a bundle of fabric must be stitched together. These fabrics were being discarded by a friend when she moved and I acquired them. The colors are so sweet – perfect for a little girl. Front – I had 4 nine patch blocks that I envisions a bit differently as I was […]
Quilts
Valentine’s Sewing
Happy Valentine’s Day! This mostly whole cloth quilt of Valentine’s prints picked out by my husband is a gift for our friends. The heart stitching was lots of fun! This 16†quilt block was created for out Valentine block drawing at my quilt guild. No pattern – just played a bit until it worked.
Kristin’s Riley Blake Quilt
My friend, Kristin, moved away and to celebrate her new home, I had to make her a quilt. I used Riley blake fabrics and a few solids to make these bordered print blocks. The prints and colors are so happy. My favorite part was quilt it. Each block has a different free motion design: flowers, […]
Bluebird Park Quilt
Using 3 Bluebird Park charm packs and a Bella solids charm pack, I created this patchwork throw. I love the little hedgehogs, bunnies and bicycles. I tried all over free motion quilting with a swirly flower radiating from the center. It’s backed with In My Room fabric.
Road 15 Quilt
I played with a Road 15 layer cake and wonky nine=patch blocks to make this throw size quilt. I quilted in a wonky grid. It’s backed with various fabrics in gray, cream and red.
Basting Time
Dexter likes when I baste quilts; there’s a big stack of quilt goodness for him to nap on. As you can see, he is doing well. I managed to baste 7 quilts: 4 for charity, 2 for gifts and another because the fabric was pretty – they range in size from baby to twin. I […]
Quilts Complete and In Progress
My friends sent me a picture of their wedding gift in use. It looks great in their room. I pieced a quilt top to while away my worry. I played with a layer cake of Sweetwater Road 15 collection.
What I’ve Been Doing – Charity Quilts
I volunteered my local modern quilt guild to help an agency complete some quilts. We were given 120 blocks hand-painted by children. The blocks were not uniform in size and the painting was a bit thick in places. Luckily the kids had been given fabric paints donated by a local quilt shop. I separated the […]
Batik Patchwork
I gathered most of my batiks together and randomly started piecing them into a patchwork top. They look better when in a quilt together. I used muslin dyed peach for the backing. It will be donated to charity to spread its cheer with someone in need.
Comma Quilt
I would not have normally used orange and gold with the green and gray but the Comma collection by Zen Chic has text fabrics I wanted to play with. The backing has pink and browns that coordinate so well with the gray, gold, orange and green.
