I volunteered my local modern quilt guild to help an agency complete some quilts. We were given 120 blocks hand-painted by children. The blocks were not uniform in size and the painting was a bit thick in places. Luckily the kids had been given fabric paints donated by a local quilt shop. I separated the […]

What I’ve Been Doing – Gallery
My art quilts are on display at the Girdwood Center for Visual Arts. I was juried into and joined this wonderful co-op gallery. Over 30 artists display their work and we all volunteer our time to staff the gallery. To celebrate, I’m giving away a mini creative girl art quilt and fabric scraps. Leave me […]

Summer Vacation Part 3
The final part of our summer vacation started in Anchorage. We visited the Glen Alps Trailhead as the rain and clouds started to clear to see the beautiful view, the city and inlet in one direction and mountains in the other. The next day we ventured north to Eklutna Lake for some light hiking and […]
Found Art
I cleaned out/reorganized my flat files and found art I had forgot making. This is a fused fabric and paper collage embellished with stitching and buttons. I usually add these pieces to a journal or frame them for my walls. I’m still deciding the fate of this one. Any ideas?
Batik Patchwork
I gathered most of my batiks together and randomly started piecing them into a patchwork top. They look better when in a quilt together. I used muslin dyed peach for the backing. It will be donated to charity to spread its cheer with someone in need.
Comma Quilt
I would not have normally used orange and gold with the green and gray but the Comma collection by Zen Chic has text fabrics I wanted to play with. The backing has pink and browns that coordinate so well with the gray, gold, orange and green.
Kaleidoscope Patchwork
My friend Kristin had some kaleidoscope blocks started and was cleaning out her sewing room as she moved. I claimed the blocks thinking I would make a quilt for her. There were many 5†matching squares that I used along with some of the extra triangles to make a patchwork back. I have another quilt […]
Bee Quilt
Six members in the Anchorage Modern Quilt Guild decided to do a bee in which each us picked a 12†block pattern and the others made her 2 blocks. I chose log cabin blocks with bright solid center, and logs of neutral except for 1 print. I made a few more blocks and added a […]
