Creative Happy Girls

I like Cori Dantini’s work and love to use her fabrics (like those above) for notebook covers, quilts and other stitched creations. However, what is a girl to do when the fabric she orders didn’t get the black ink added (like those below)?

I thought about contacting the shop I ordered from to request replacements, but I was smitten with the design that lacked the details. I kept seeing them as backgrounds for small art quilts. So I layered batting and backing on the fabric, stitched around the edges pillowcase style, and turned them right side out.

I quilted each background with straight lines or free motion stitched flowers. I created girls to fit over the girls in the fabric and dressed them in fabrics I adore from my stash. I like how the backgrounds became muted subtle scenes for these creative happy girls.
