The quilt began with a piece of cotton batting covered in fusible webbing. Scraps of blue fabrics are placed on the background and fused in place. The edges are left raw and fraying is encouraged. Backing fabric is added and I begin the quilting – lots of stitched dahlias.
The girl is drawn onto fusible webbing and assembled from text fabric for her skin, white tone on tone fabric for her dress and torn, ruffled muslin strips for her skirt and a bit of brown fabric for her head.
The crocheted lace trim is the star of this dress. I couldn’t bear to detract from it, so I kept her tidbits collection small: fabric scraps, buttons, brads, hand stitching, ribbons, safety pins.

Oh my goodness but you make it hard to have a favorite. I am in love with this one. It screams of springtime and daisy’s, perhaps in a meadow filled with wildflowers and a stream in shimmering blue or maybe a small lake.
