I volunteered to coordinate the painting of a community mural for the Girdwood Center for Visual Arts (GCVA). That meant planning the design, doing the prep work and organizing the painting day. With the assistance of other GCVA artists and lots of community members, I got see my plan come to life a few weeks ago.
This was my sketch for the mural. The plan was to create giant flowers that the kids (and adults) could color in with paint.
The GCVA artist drew a few of the larger flowers and then the community started adding in other flowers and designs.
The artists then outlined the flowers and designs with black paint to make the designs pop.
It was a fun day and I was glad my mom was visiting – she helped with the priming and on painting day.
